Abstract

The present study combine Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) techniques with Terrestrial Laser Scanner (TLS) data to obtain highly automated and accurate DTM datasets of the Mont de la Saxe landslide. The datasets obtained were used to evaluate the mass movement in different periods during the year, indicating the possible trigger of the landslide. The results showed that the large mass movement occurred in spring and early summer with a significant local elevation decrease of up to 22 m in 5 days. The rapid short-term mass movement in later spring could have been triggered by the groundwater level increase due to the snow melting process.
