Abstract
The geology and geomorphology of the mountains spread along the Trentino-Veneto Front guided the location of bunkers and trenches. In the Dolomites the natural barriers formed by rock walls have forced both parties to choose expensive and destructive attack strategies (mine warfare). In the southern sector, the diversity of geological units allowed the choice of sedimentary units with high mechanical resistance (i.e. Pasubio Massif) or units that possessed the characteristics of natural fortresses (i.e. Lessini Mountains).
