Abstract

Plio-pleistocene evolution of the Romanengo anticline (Po Plain, Italy). A detailed interpretation of a depth converted seismic line, running through the Po Plain (Italy), has allowed to study the geological and structural evolution of the buried Romanengo anticline. The Romanengo anticline is buried beneath the plio-pleistocene sediments, causes a topographic anomaly of the Po Plain and was generated by a blind thrust of the Southern Alpine deformational front. The evolution of the structure has been studied by retrodeforming the anticline (using the flexural slip unfold method) from Holocene to Lower Pliocene and decompacting the terrigenous sediments.
