Abstract

The physical landscape of Umbria (central Italy) has one of the highest cultural values of the region and the tourism is a fundamental economic source. Due to this fact the enhancement of the geological component in the management of the territory is the necessary starting point to: promoting the scientific research in this area, spreading the knowledge of natural contexts and promoting the geotourism. Starting from this assumption, this paper aims to identify the geological heritage of Valcasana (southeastern Umbria), a suggestive valley in the Umbrian Apennines with outstanding landforms due to the interaction between mass wasting and tectonic features.
