Abstract

A slope affected by several landslides threatening a motorway in Southern Italy has been monitored through a ground-based radar interferometer for early warning purposes. The capability of such instrument to produce near real-time displacement data of the whole scenario has been optimized to an early warning application by implementing algorithms to reduce the file size and to regulate the frequency of data transmission. Since such activities require a high reliability in fast data transferring but are often carried out in remote locations where it is not possible to resorting to high speed internet connections, these adaptations acquire a strategic importance.
