Geological setting of the western Peligna region (Abruzzo, Central Eastern Apennines)

In this work, the results of a geological mapping carried out for a PhD research are presented. The work is focused on the area between the Fucino Plain and the Sulmona Basin, including the western part of the Peligna region and the northeastern part of the Marsica region. This area is debated in the literature of the last 40 years concerning the geological setting, the time scan of the compressional extensional deformation and the role in the geodynamic evolution of the Apennines chain.In this framework this study provide a contribution based on field geological survey that lead to the realization of a geological map 1:25.000 scale.
