Abstract

The educational naturalistic trail of Gonna Stream. We present a teaching fieldtrip, focused on the landscape reading, to be set within the municipality of Monticiano the Wildlife Reserve "Alto Merse"(Southern Tuscany, Italy). The fieldtrip is about 2.5 km long and consists of 7 stops. It runs on the dextral bank of the Gonna stream, before the confluence with the Merse river. Different geological (e.g. geomorphological, stratigraphical, sedimentological and structural) features, useful to highlight the dynamicity of the landscape and to demonstrate the geological evolution of the region, are pointed out along the itinerary. Such a fieldtrip is particularly indicated for environmental education designed for students of different ages due to its low way length, teaching opportunities, and overall for the occurrence of a renovated farm (Podere Gonna) playing as supporting place for educational activities.
